Infinity scarf

I loved this top when I bought it, but I knew it wouldn't be a top for very long!  

The pattern sold it to me.

I couldn't quite figure out what it was going to be, so I had a play and a think.

It looks as though there was lots of fabric in the main body, so why not cut off the bottom and top, make a tube and turn it into an infinity scarf?

So that's what I did:

It's so easy to make, too!

I do so love the pattern and wear it with anything (although, it would probably have been better if I'd had a different top on in this photo!)

Going to a wedding...

I'm going to a wedding next Saturday - talk about excited!!

I sorted out my dress many moons ago.  And my shoes.  But there was something missing...

...a bag!

I thought, I know, I'll have a look around this weekend and see what I can find in the shops.

And then it dawned on me.  What a doofus!  I can MAKE a clutch bag to carry my confetti/tissues/camera/keys...

But what to make it out of?  *Rifles through red fabric stash dramatically*

Aha!  Got it!  A preloved burgundy velvet scarf would look particularly wonderful.

So I cut and interfaced and padded and zipped and sewed my little heart out.  And this is the end result:

 

I lined it with red polka dot fabric.  I find that a girl can never have enough polka dots in her life!

So I'm even more excited about the wedding now!

And I also have a prom dress that I am considering making a similar clutch bag out of. 

I do so love it when you can keep your memories alive with fabric :)

Fluffy Scarf (aka neck warmer)

When it comes to fabric, I'm very hands-on.  If it feeeeeeeels nice and soft then the chances are that I'll love it!

So when I found a square of the softest faux fur fabric imaginable I just had to give it a home, if only to stroke it every now and again.

As a square wasn't conducive to wrapping around my neck in the depths of winter, I cut it into sections and sewed it up. 

I can now wear it as a scarf tucked into my coat on days when the north wind's blowing.



No more cold neck for me!

Leftover silk scarf

This was made from the silk found in the bag of leftovers from the car boot sale.

I just had to add a mini-hem down both sides and ta-da - one silk scarf!

Car boot sale finds

You'd think you'd find something good at a car boot sale with over 300 cars right?

Well, I did find a couple of magazines with patterns in and a piece of wonderful fabric (William Morris print which I've already used for a skirt and bag - I put that back LOL!)

Feeling jaded, the very last car boot that I peered into came up trumps.  It contained a couple of large bags of material with a £1 sign on them.  Interested, I raked through the off-cuts to see what was on offer.  The seller saw my interest and told me that her daughter had studied fashion design at university and was now a designer with Toast (I must look them up!)  The material was all her project work leftovers.

I picked up some lime silk (enough to make a couple of scarves), lengths of black ribbon (always comes in handy), navy wool coating, thick black stretchy material (skirt maybe?) and heaps of other wonderful goodies.  I had an absolute armful!

And she charged me just £2 for the lot.

She made my day!
