No sew frilly blouse refashion

Blouses.  Wonderful garments, especially in a fab print, but not the best if they have a hugely unflattering frill down the front.  Like this:

Can't see it?  It's a bit like a dorsal fin.  Here's a better angle...

See what I mean?  Ample chests don't do too well with frilly blouses.

So I cut it off.  I mean, what did I have to lose, right?

And here is the result - so much better!

Gaping blouse solution

Ever have that gaping blouse problem?

Yep, me too!

No matter how you arrange it, you have always got one part of your bra on show.  Not always a good look.

I could have thrown it away (not my style)

Or used a pin (ouch)

But instead I used a teensy bit of velcro

And lo and behold - no more gaping problems!

Sleeveless blouse

Many moons ago, right after I took the soft furnishings night school class, I had a go at making a sleeveless blouse.  I don't think I ever wore it in earnest though.

But, like everything I sew, I do remember the sense of achievement when I had finished it.

I can look at the blouse now and smile.  Gosh, my sewing skills have come a long way since then!

I couldn't figure out why the bust darts were on the back of the blouse.  Then I realised that the buttons were down the back LOL!

Talking of buttons, this was the first time that I had ever covered buttons myself.  And look!  I also must have managed to figure out how to use my button-holer as it would appear that it has button holes!

It's surprising what you can do with a blouse

Take one shiney preloved satin blouse...

Did I say it was shiney?

Add some coloured cotton to contrast in not only colour but also texture...

Add the button from the blouse cuff to the front of the tab for extra interest...

And you have another book cover!

This book cover was made before I'd perfected the sizing for the Your Body Speaks journal.  I love it anyway!
